– EECP Technology at Heartland Health
June 4, 2004
|
Heartland Regional Medical Center (HRMC) now has Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP®) technology. EECP is a mechanical procedure in which long inflatable cuffs (like blood pressure cuffs) are wrapped around both of the patient’s legs. While the patient lies on a bed, the leg cuffs are inflated and deflated by a computer with each heartbeat. When the cuffs inflate, the blood in the legs is “pushed” upwards, toward the heart. The leg cuffs increase the flow of blood to the coronary arteries and at the same time, reduce the work of the heart muscle in pumping blood into the arteries. Read more about EECP at Heartland!
